Army torched houses in Bandipora Region
General Assembly should take Notice-Muhammad Farooq Rehmani
Islamabad 24 Sept 09: Muhammad Farooq Rehmani Convener All Parties Hurriyat Conference AJK and Chairman J&K People’s Freedom League has castigated Indian forces for torching Abdul Ahad Haji’s houses and others of civilians during a raid and search operation in Banyari village along the Wular Lake in District Bandipora.
He said the population was left homeless in an area which is known for its heavy army presence. He feared army contingents moved to the troubled area would further endanger public life, honor and property and add fuel to fire. He appealed to the member countries of the General Assembly now in session in New York, especially the permanent representative of Pakistan in the world body to raise the question of Indian violations and censure India for its gross and flagrant human rights abuses in Kashmir.
