London, July 20: In Britain, the All Party Parliamentary Group on Kashmir (APPG) has urged the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon to send a team of observers to occupied Kashmir to investigate into unmarked graves, extrajudicial killings and torture in the territory. The APPG in a letter to the UN General Secretary wrote that the content and images of the Channel 4 documentary on the torture in Kashmir, had bought to wider attention, the stories and the daily individual struggles of the Kashmiri people.

It deplored that “The international community particularly the UN has not made any strong representations on this issue.”

“We call on the Secretary General to use his powers to conduct thorough investigations into the torture and extrajudicial killings perpetrated in Indian-held Kashmir,” the letter read.

The Group also wrote a letter to the House of Commons, expressing concern over the discovery of unmarked graves two years ago and asked for action into these killings.

The British All Party Parliamentary Group on Kashmir was formed to bring focus to this ongoing struggle and to champion a peaceful solution to the Kashmir dispute.
