Srinagar, January 21: In Indian administrated Kashmir, police attacked the vehicle of a team of the High Court Bar Association when it was returning from its visit of Jammu jails.

A spokesman of the Bar Association in a statement in Srinagar said that a police team smashed the windowpanes of the Bar vehicle at Qazigund on Sunday evening when the Bar team was returning from Jammu jails. The Bar team had gone to meet Kashmiri detainees languishing in jails in Jammu and inquire about their condition.

The former Bar General Secretary, Advocate G N Shaheen told media men that a police team from Qazigund Police Station broke the windowpanes of the vehicle. “They also broke the windowpanes of a vehicle in which a woman from Kupwara was travelling with her two-year-old girl,” he added.

To protest the incident, the Bar members staged a sit-in for two hours at Qazigund late in the evening.

The Bar team comprised General Secretary, Muhammad Ashraf Butt, Advocate Aijaz Bedar, Advocate Bilal Wani and Advocate Hamid Shafi
