Srinagar, July 21: Ind Indian administrated Kashmir Indian Police on Sunday booked Syed Naseem Geelani, son of Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani on the charge of spreading rumour on Facebook.
According to Kashmir Reader in a handout, a police spokesman said, “Rumours of a young boy being killed in Sumbal were floated by certain fake identity holders on Facebook. Reportedly one person with Facebook identity as Syed Naseem had also updated about death of a youth in Safa Pora which was not true. He later removed this post.”
Police said all these Facebook ‘miscreants’ were being identified and action would be taken against them. “In this regard a case FIR No. 57/2013 U/S 67 IT Act and 505 RPC has been registered in Police Station Kothibagh,” the police said.
Naseem while talking to Kashmir Reader confirmed that he had posted the death of a youth on his Facebook page which he later removed.
Naseem, however, said he was unaware that police had booked him for the post.
