Islamabad Aug 29: The Chairman Jammu & Kashmir Peoples’ Freedom League, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani has strongly condemned India’s state terrorism, killings of youth, arrests to curb peaceful street protests in Kashmir; and jingoism towards Pakistan along the LOC under the pretext of some deaths of Indian soldiers on the side of occupied villages. In a statement issued in Islamabad Muhammad Farooq Rehmnai said that whether it was India’s state terrorism inside or firing along the LOC on the AJK posts of Pakistan army for the last 24 days, it had negative ramification for peace and peaceful resolution of Kashmir and other outstanding disputes between the two regional atomic states, foreshadowing war against the wishes and interests of a sea of humanity of South Asia especially the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that the current border tension of an escalated nature and India’s firing on Azad Kashmir has turned the LOC into a war-zone resulting in fleeing of villagers on both sides to take shelter in safer places. He said that the tensions were terribly damaging peace overtures and initiatives by Pakistan and the resolution of Kashmir by peaceful means was facing set back again and again; while at the same time vested interests were diverting attention of the world from inside human rights atrocities to LOC allegations and tension.
Muhammad Farooq Rehmani urged India and Pakistan to ease tension along the LOC , agree upon any neutral international emissary to probe causes into killings in the area and establish facts to stop recurrence to any such acts in future. He reminded that the history of Cease-Fire Line or the so-called Line of Actual Control was as old as 65 years; and Kashmir and LOC were interlinked; therefore in order to arrive at a durable peace in the region no stone should be left unturned to find out a just, peaceful and honourable solution of the core issue of Jammu and Kashmir.
