Farooq Rehmani, 290x217 2492013Islamabad, Sep 29: The Chairman Jammu and Kashmir People’s Freedom League, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani while rejecting Indian Prime minister Dr. Manmohan Singh’s statement in the UN General Assembly on Kashmir as an old rhetoric devoid of historical facts and ground realities, said that the Indian leadership was being haunted by UN Security Council resolutions whenever they stand up to speak before the World Assembly. In a statement Muhammad Farooq Rehmani,  said that the statements on the plebiscite in Kashmir and withdrawal of troops by the founding fathers of the modern India notably: Mahatma Ghandhi and Nehru, separate and joint pledges and assurances given by both India and Pakistan to the Kashmiris, and the historical debates in the Security Council between 1940s and 1960s, appointment of Plebiscite administrator to Kashmir; all vindicated the stand and struggle of the people of Kashmir for achieving their right to self-determination. He further said that if quite and back-door diplomacy between Pakistan and India was added to it, then again it was another proof that the Indian leadership had no or legal or moral justification to harp on their rotten claim of “atoot-ang’ in the United Nations.

“The fact is that Kashmir, neither was nor is India’s integral part, and the Line of Actual Control in Kashmir coupled with skirmishes and tensions along it must necessitate India, Pakistan and UN not to take the Kashmiris granted; but they should feel lull before storm. The regional situation and Kashmir’s uncertainty and tension call upon India, Pakistan and the United Nations to work on the solution of the dispute seriously at all levels and seek co operation of the Kashmiris according to the UNCIP resolutions for a just and durable solution, he concluded.
