Srinagar: Massive protests erupted in south Kashmir’sBatengoo area of Khanabal after one of its natives who was injured in Udhampur attack on intervening night of October 9/10 succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in New Delhi on Sunday morning.
Zahid (24) son of Ghulam Rasool Bhat of Batengo was shifted to Safderjung hospital in New Dekhi after he suffered serious burn injuries when hooligans attacked their truck with a petrol bomb. Besides Zahid, a 35 year old Showkat had suffered burn injuries and were evacuated to hospital in Jammu from where they were shifted to hospital in New Delhi for specialized treatment.

According to hospital Sources, Zahid breathed his last today morning and soon after the news was received in his home town, thousands of people took to streets and staged massive protests demanding severe punishment to the attackers, six of whom were claimed to have been arrested by police while few others are still absconding.

Zahid Rasool Bhat, one of the truckers, injured in Udhampur attack, succumbed at New Delhi’s Safdarjung hospital on Sunday, family sources and police confirmed to Greater Kashmir.
Bhat had suffered 70 per cent injuries after a mob set on fire a truck in which he was sleeping along with two more Kashmiris in Udhampur area of Jammu on October 9.
He breathed his last at noon today, Muhammad Ashraf, a family member, told Greater Kashmir over phone from Delhi.
His body will reach his village by 5 pm today, an official said.
