Murdered by Hindu terrorists, Government forces use pepper gas, burst tear smoke shells to disperse demonstrators
Anantnag: Violent protests have erupted in Batengoo area of this south Kashmir district against the “cold blooded” murder of a Kashmiri trucker by a Hindu mob in Udhampur district of Jammu region. After funeral prayers of Zahid were offered, scores of youth staged pro-freedom and anti-India demonstrations to denounce what they termed as a cold blooded murder by Hindu fascists, witnesses told Kashmir Reader. Besides shouting slogans, angry protesters also threw stones at the CRPF and police near the Joint Interrogation Centre (JIC), Khanabal.
“The government forces used pepper gas and tossed teargas canisters to disperse the angry mourners. However, they regrouped and continued renewed attacks. The highway has turned into a battle-ground,” witnesses said.
The clashes were going on when the last reports came in.
Zahid had suffered 60% burns, while his colleague Showkat Ahmad Dar of Uranhal suffered 30% burn injuries after a Hindu mob set them afire after beating them in Udhampur on October 9. He succumbed to his injuries at New Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital on Sunday morning.
