Srinagar: Three army men and one militant were killed while five soldiers, four policemen and a civilian got injured in the encounter in Hajin, Bandipora.

Talking to Rising Kashmir an army spokesperson said, “The operation has been called off.”

Early on Tuesday 13 RR and SOG Bandipora launched an operation in Parray Mohall of Hajin after receiving inputs about the presence of militants, during the ensuing gunfight three army men and a militant were killed.

Sourecs told Rising Kashmit that later a militant, who was killed, hurled a grenade injuring four policemen during the encounter.

Among the injured is a civilian namely Hilal Ahmed, CRPF Commanding Officer of 45 Battalion and an army major.

Army sources told Rising Kashmit that the condition of army major, who was referred to Badamibagh hospital, is slated to be critical.

Following the encounter massive protest erupted in many areas of Hajin including Saderkoot. In these clashes over six protestors were injured when forces used force to disperse them.
