Shopian: Villagers from Woterpora, Mulu, Trenz and other areas Sunday alleged harassment by army.
“I was returning from hospital, as my father was ill. Soldiers forces stopped our vehicle and beat us up and snatched our identity cards and asked us to visit army camp to get our cards back,” said Bilal Ahmad (name changed on request).
Another youth from Mulu alleged that he was returning from Shopian and forces beat him up on way home.
Meanwhile, residents of Arihal alleged that forces Saturday arrested Shahid Ahmad Dar son of Mohammed Ashraf Dar during a raid. Police rejected allegations.
According to residents of Mullu and Chitragam, people picked up by forces after the militant ambush, in which three soldiers were killed, are still in police custody.
