Thousands participate in multiple funerals of martyr in Tral
Srinagar, March 06 : Thousands of people offered funeral prayers of martyred Aqib Ahmad Butt alias Aqib Moulvi at his ancestral village in Tral area of Pulwama district of Kashmir, today.
Funeral prayers of Aqib, one of the two miltants killed during the 15-hour-long firefight with Indian forces at Haffu, Nazneenpora village on Sunday, were offered four times to accommodate the unending queues of mourners from adjacent areas.
Despite restrictions, local media reported that around fifty thousand people from Tral, Awantipora and other areas of Pulwama district thronged Hyuna to participate in the funeral of Aaqib Maulvi and have a last glimpse of the martyr. Men, women and children bid an emotional farewell to the martyr amid pro-freedom and anti-India slogans.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Syed Ali Gilani while telephonically addressing the mourners paid glowing tributes to the martyred youth. He reiterated the Kashmiris’ resolve to take the freedom movement to its logical end, against all odds.
Aqib Ahmad Butt was buried at his ancestral graveyard in Hayena village. Following the funeral and the burial clashes erupted in Tral town, which continued till last reports came in.
