Islamabad, March 08 (Agencies): As the world observes the
International Women’s Day, today, the miseries and victimization of
Kashmiri women by Indian forces and police personnel in occupied
Kashmir continue unabated.

According to a report released by the Research Section of Kashmir
Media Service, on the occasion of the International Women’s Day,
today, thousands of women were among 94,628 civilians martyred by
Indian troops and paramilitary personnel since January 1989 till

It revealed that since January 1989 the state terrorism has rendered
22,832 women widowed while 10,828 were molested by the Indian forces’
personnel. The report said that thousands of women suffered the loss
of their sons, husbands, fathers and brothers in the occupied
territory who were subjected to custodial disappearance by Indian
Army, police and paramilitary personnel. As per the Association of
Parents of Disappeared Persons, more than 8,000 Kashmiris went missing
in custody during the past 28 years, it added.

The report further pointed out that majority of the Kashmiris suffering from multiple psychic problems was of womenfolk.

They observed that thousands of mothers were waiting for their disappeared sons while widows and half widows were in pain. The leaders said that the manner in which Kashmiri people especially women had been made destitute and children orphaned was a question mark on the integrity of entire humanity.
