Srinagar: A armed fighter was killed and an Army Major sustained injuries in a brief shootout in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district Thursday evening, police sources said.
They said that police and army laid a naka outside police station Bandipora following specific inputs.
“During the checking, a militant travelling in a vehicle opened fire in which an army major of 14 RR was injured. The militant was killed in retaliatory fire,” they said.
Earlier, in the day two militants were killed in a gunfight between government forces and militants in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Two civilian were also killed at the hands of forces during clashes with protesters in the area.
