Srinagar: A brother of five sisters, an intelligent mechanic, and a class 10th student lost their battle to serious wounds inflicted by bullets fired by forces during clashes near an encounter site at Chadoora.
Zahid Rashid Ganai was the lone brother of five sisters.
According to his family members, Zahid’s father Abdur Rashid runs a jewellery shop in Chadoora town. “He was a final year student. He was smart, tall and handsome. He was an intelligent student,” Zahid’s friend told Greater Kashmir.

As the news about Zahid’s death reached his home, his sisters fell unconscious.

Another youth Amir Ahmad Waza of Waza Mohalla, Wathoora was a class 10th student. “Amir was elder to his two sisters. His family is putting up in a single-storey house at Waza Mohalla,” said a group of locals.
Another youth Ishaq Ahmed Wani of Rangreth was considered as one of the best young mechanics.
“He would repair vehicles at Batamaloo Bus Stand. He was home till 11 am and when the news about protests at Chadoora spread, he left his home, never to return,” his relatives said.
Ishaq’s father is an Asthama patient and he was the lone breadwinner for his family. When Ishaq left for Chadoora, he handed over the money he had spared for his sister’s marriage, saying: “I am leaving, and I am not sure whether I will return.”
