Srinagar, May 11: The students continued their anti-India protests, today, in Islamabad, Baramulla, Badgam, Kupwara and other areas of the Indian admin Kashmir.
The students of Dooru Higher Secondary School in Islamabad district staged protests. Clashes between students and Indian troops erupted after army personnel thrashed the protesting students. The troops also thrashed students in Nowgam area of Verinag in the district. Indian forces fired teargas shells on the protesting students. Following the clashes, shopkeepers downed their shutters and traffic disappeared from the roads.
Clashes also erupted between students and forces’ personnel in Langate area Kupwara district after the students of Government Higher Secondary School Langate took to the streets to protest against the arrest of students.
The students of Government Degree College Magam clashed with Indian forces at Magam-Kralpora Road in Badgam district. Indian forces lobbed teargas shells inside the premises of the college, creating panic among the students. The main gate of the college was also closed to prevent the students from coming out. Several students were detained after they jumped over the periphery wall of the college.
Massive clashes were also reported in Sopore area of Baramulla district after the students of Boys Higher Secondary School and Degree College Sopore took to the streets in protest against brutalities of Indian forces. Indian police resorted to heavy shelling of tear gas and pepper gas on the students.
It is worth mentioning here that Kashmir is in grip of forceful protests by students since the raid by Indian forces on Pulwama Degree College on April 15. Over 60 students were injured in the forces’ action.
