Srinagar: Clashes between protesting students and government forces erupted in Pattan area of Baramulla district on Tuesday, sources said.
They said that forces fired tear smoke shells on protesting students of the government higher secondary school who took out a demonstration and marched upto main market.
As soon as the students raising pro-freedom and anti-India slogans reached the market police and other forces fired tear smoke canisters on them triggering clashes.
Local sources said that the protesting students pelted stones on forces resulting in chaos in the area.
They said that students of Govt higher secondary school Pattan took to streets after they found several Hizb posters outside the school calling for protests.
Student community in Kashmir is holding protests since April 17 after at least 60 college students were injured in force’s action in Pulwama on April 15.
