Adil Farooq Magray was killed in the firing of Indian forces’ personnel on protesters in Ganowpora village in Shopian on Tuesday evening.
Thousands of people offered funeral prayers of the martyred student twice before he was laid to rest amidst wet eyes, high-pitched pro-freedom sloganeering and emotional scenes. Son of a farmer, Adil Farooq, was hit by a bullet after Indian forces opened fire on protesters during a siege and search operation in Ganowpora area of Shopian.
People from all walks of life including Hurriyat leaders participated in the funeral.

Emotional scenes were witnessed in south Kashmir shopian district on Wednesday as thousands of people attended funeral prayers of Adil Farooq Magray, a 20-year-old student who was killed in firing by government forces last night.
Rising Kashmir has learnt that thousands of people attended the funeral prayers of the Adil at his native village of Ganowpora, area of distrct Shopian.
Mourners were raising pro-freedom and anti-India slogans. Large number of women also participated in the funeral procession.
Aadil Farooq Magray, son of Farooq Ahmed Magray was critically injured after forces opened fire at protesters in Ganowpora village of Shopian district.
The protests erupted after army, CRPF and police cordoned off the area and launched search operations in the village based on a tip off about presence of militants.
