Srinagar: Thousands of people participated in the separate funerals of martyrs Zahid Ahmad Butt, Ishaq Ahmed, Muhammad Ashraf Dar, and a 17-year young boy Muhammad Younus Sheikh in Tral areas, today.

The funerals were offered in Nawdal, Batgund, Trich and Saimoh areas of Tral town. The martyrs were laid to rest amid pro-freedom and anti-India slogans. Complete shutdown was observed in the Puwlama district in protest against the killings. Mobile service has also remained suspended in the district for the second day today.

Meanwhile, the students of Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) staged protests within the university campus against the killings in Tral, today. Hundreds of students assembled within the campus and raised anti-India, pro-freedom and pro-Pakistan slogans.

The students held placards with pictures of Burhan Wani. The protesting students demanded an end to killings in Kashmir. Slogans like “Kashmir Banega Pakistan,” and “Hikmat-e-Salahuddin, Hizb-ul-Mujahideen,” reverberated in the campus.

Residents of Qaimoh on Thursday blocked the road leading to Kulgam to protest against ransacking of their properties by Indian troops during raids, yesterday. The troops had launched a cordon and search operation in Qaimoh, but called if off after protesters disrupted it.

A 26-year-old youth from Islamabad district was booked under draconian law, Public Safety Act (PSA) and shifted to a jail in Jammu.

Irfan Amad Khan, 26, son of Bashir Ahmad Khan of Lazibal locality of Islamabad town was arrested on July 1 for participating in protests.
