Bandipora: Thousands of people on Wednesday took part in the last rites of slain Lashkar-e-Toiba militant Nasrullah Mir in Hajin area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
Mir was killed along with an associate in a brief gunfight with forces in Rakh (Paribal) area of Hajin early today.
Two Air Force commandos were also killed in the firefight.
Reports said that thousands of men, women and children lined the streets as the body of the slain militant was being marched towards the graveyard where he was laid to rest amid pro-freedom and pro-Islam slogans.
Meanwhile, Clashes erupted in Hajin after slain militant Nasrullah Mir was laid to rest.
Reports said that youth assembled at the Hajin Chowk and pelted the government forces with stones.
The forces responded by firing pellets and lobbing teargas shells, triggering further clashes.
