Srinagar October 19: Shutdown was observed here today against the ransacking of Hizbul Mujahideen militant commander Hamaad Khan allegedly by forces at Seer village of Tral township in district Pulwama on late Wednesday night.
Clashes also erupted in main Bus Stand Tral between youth and government forces. As the news of the ransacking spread, scores of locals visited the family to express their sympathy. Residents at Seer also staged a protest in the village.

The family of the Hizb commander alleged that at around 11:55 pm on Wednesday, forces raided their house and “vandalized the property worth lakhs of rupees.”
“We were sleeping when suddenly forces barged into our house and abused us. They assembled all of us outside and went inside the house and damaged property including cupboards, wardrobes, home appliances, utensils, motorcycle and window panes,” said ailing mother of the militant.
The incident took place hours after killing of a special police officer (SPO) on Wednesday evening in Gutroo Naristan village of the township.

“As forces start damaging our property, we asked them the reason, but they kept abusing us and telling us that they are avenging the death of the SPO,” said another family member.
To mention, Hamaad Khan is an active militant and Hizb sub-district commander for Tral. He joined the militant outfit in April 2016, two months before Hiz commander Burhan Muzaffar Wani’s death.
Despite repeated attempts SP Awantipora, DIG south Kashmir and commandant 42 RR could not be contacted as they did not respond to calls. However, a senior police official requesting anonymity denied involvement of police in the ransacking of militant’s house. “No policeman was involved in the incident. I cannot comment about army’s presence, better to ask them,” he said.
