Islamabad, November 01: “India should acknowledge popular struggle for freedom and, the world should get down to the bedrock of the principal question—the right of self-determination, to facilitate a sound and solid course of resolving the Kashmir dispute between Pakistan, India and the people of Jammu and Kashmir.” This was stated here today by Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Chairman J&K People’s Freedom League and former Convener All Parties Hurriyet (Freedom) Conference APHC).

He said,” India that has a mighty army with modern sophisticated arms & ammunition stocks in Kashmir and also draconian laws being used at will against any Kashmiri civilian or leader in the State has yet to prove her sincerity to resolve the dispute. No disputed or controversial personality or party or country has moral and political credibility and authority to take up the age old conflict for resolution. Indian government’s increasing relations with Israel, collaboration between the two and its defense team’s visit to Udhampore is a dangerous course being pursued to poison the atmosphere further.

He further said Indian regime’s intentions to erode her own laws on the statute book in the shape of the Article 370 and 35-A is a clear testimony of her contradictions on the question of so called talks with the Kashmiris. If they want to scrap the special powers granted by their own constituent Assembly or President, to this State; how can they start negotiations on the political question related to the destiny of the Kashmiris? Kashmir is an international dispute and India should first of all bear this truth in mind, remove contradictions, shun obduracy, create a free and fair environment and accept international facilitation for a just, honourable and durable settlement of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.”
