Bandipora: Five persons were injured, one of them with a gunshot wound, during clashes in Hajin in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district after an army patrolling party was pelted with stones, today.

A local said that a youth was hit by bullet on his left ankle after army men went berserk in the area after being pelted with stones.

He said that as the army went berserk in the area, the locals hit streets and clashed with forces, who fired dozens of tear smoke shells and pellets to disperse the them.

“Four youth were hit by pellets. Another youth was hit by bullet in his ankle. The injured youth were shifted to CHC Hajin,” he said.

A doctor posted in CHC Hajin said that they recieved five injured youth, one of the identifeid as Nayeem Ahmad Mir was hit by a bullet in his left ankle.

“He has been referred to bone and joint hospital barzulla. Four pellet injured were treated at the CHC,” he said.

Locals alleged that army’s 13 RR unit went berserk, ransacked several houses and set fire to stacks of dried grass in Parrey Mohalla, Bon Mohalla and Khos Mohalla localities of Hajin.

“Army’s patrol party was pelted with stones by youth near Parrey Mohalla after which they went berserk in the area and ransacked several residentail areas. They set afire dozens of stacks of dried grass. They also beat up some locals,” locals alleged.

Meanwhile, as per reports situation in Hajin town was tense.
