Srinagar: Pro-freedom slogans were raised during the funeral of a woman killed in a firing by forces in Younsu village of Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Monday.

Eye witnesses and reports said that mourners braved rains and cold weather and marched to the village to take part in her last rites.

They raised pro-freedom and anti-India slogans during the funeral procession.

Misra Bano, according to police, was killed in cross-fire between militants and forces in a gunfight that also left three militants dead.

Bano, an official said, sustained bullet injury after she tried to escape from the house in which the militants were trapped.
