Srinagar: The death toll of slain youth by Indian forces’ actions in south Kashmir’s Shopian and Islamabad districts on Sunday has mounted to 17 after three more youth died due to pellet and bullets.
The first civilian killed was identified as Iqbal Butt, of Khasipora Shopian. Reports said that Iqbal had received bullet injury in his abdomen.
The 2nd civilian, identified as Zubair Ahmad Bhat, was killed many were were injured after protesters were fired in Dragad and Kachdoora.
The 3rd deceased civilian, reportedly a house owner, was identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Thoker.
The 4th civilian, identified as Mehraj-ud-din Bhat, was killed in forces’ firing in Kachdoora. He was declared dead on arrival at district hospital Pulwama.
Youth were killed in different firing and anti-rebel operations launched by Indian troops in two districts Shopian and Islamabad of south Kashmir. Three army men were also killed in the encounters in same districts.
The death toll of people mounted to 17, including 13 youth in anti-rebel operations and four in firing on protesters. Over 100 civilians were injured and many of them are critical.
In the operations troops destroyed four residential houses also.
