Jammu, August 07: Talib Hussain, a social activist who spearheaded the campaign to seek justice for gang rape and murder victim girl from Kathua, Aasifa, has suffered head injuries during police custody at Samba Police Station in Jammu region.
Noted lawyer, Deepika Singh Rajawat, told media men in Jammu that Talib was injured after being attacked obviously by Hindu inmates at the behest of prejudiced police authorities in the Muslim minority Jammu region.
The social media was abuzz with the reports that Talib Hussain was assaulted by inmates inside the lockup at Samba Police Station and many people expressed their concern over the threat to his life in custody.
“He (Talib) was taken to the hospital for treatment. Now he is stable,” said a police officer, wishing not to be quoted.
Talib is on police remand for ten days. He has been implicated in a fake case by Samba police in a bid to teach him a lesson for advocating sentence to culprits involved in rape and murder of minor Aasifa. He was arrested in fake cases last week by Samba police.
Talib who has been in police custody is upset with the treatment meted out to him by the police since people are not allowed to meet him. He says that he is innocent and should be released from the police custody.
It is in place to mention here that Talib Hussain was at the forefront to seek justice for the Kathua girl, who was gang raped and murdered in Rasana village of the district, earlier this year.
