Srinagar, July 26 : In occupied Kashmir, an innocent youth was tortured to death in police custody at Panzala in Rafiabad area of Baramulla district.KMS reported.
The residents of Fidarpora area of Rafiabad told mediamen that Tariq Ahmed Dar was detained by the policemen of police station Panzala few days ago.
“Police held him on baseless charges and did not allow the family to meet him in custody. We were shocked to see his body this morning,” they said.
The residents said that Tariq had been tortured to death, on Saturday night, as his body had visible torture marks. “He was innocent and was not involved in any militancy related activity,” they added.
A doctor, who was part of the team that conducted the post-mortem of the victim, told newsmen that there were visible torture marks on Tariq’s body.
As body of Tariq was brought to Fidarpora, hundreds of people immediately took to streets and raised pro-liberation and anti-India slogans. The protesters demanded action against the police personnel, who tortured Tariq to death in custody.
On the other and, dead body of a Batamaloo youth, Farooq Ahmad Bhat, who had gone missing on July 20, was fished out from a stream in Srinagar. As the word about Farooq’s death spread in the area, people took to the streets and staged a massive demonstration. They raised pro-liberation slogans.
Indian police and paramilitary personnel severely beat up a newspaper hawker in Pulwama. Witnesses said that the hawker, Altaf Hussain was beaten to pulp by the police and paramilitary men near Muran Chowk.
