Srinagar: A boy was killed and at least seven others have been injured when paramilitary CRPF opened fire on protesters at Naidkhah Poshwari village in Sumbal area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district this afternoon.
According to locals, CRPF personnel on Saturday morning after coming out of their camp on a patrol mission mercilessly beat up a few pedestrians. As the news of this incident spread, people assembled in the area and hurled stones at the CRPF camp. The CRPF reponded by firing straight at the protesters, killing one boy and injuring seven others. The slain boy, aged 20 years, has been identified as Fayaz Ahmed Teli S/O Ghulam Hassan Teli, resident of Naidkhah Sumbal.
Another youth namely Bilal Ahmed Dar has received bullet on his spine and has been shifted to Srinagar in a critical condition.
As this report was being filed, the slain youth’s body was being taken in a large procession in Sumbal town.
A medical official at Sub-district Hospital, Sumbal, requesting anonimity, confirmed to Greater Kashmir that the boy brought dead to the hospital had received bullet in his chest.
