Srinagar,April 09 (agencies): Pakistan on Friday strongly condemned the bombing of a mosque in Srinagar at Juma prayers, which resulted in loss of lives and injury, including the Shahadat of Molvi Showkat Shah, President Jamiat-e-Ahl-e-Hadith.The Government and people of Pakistan express their deep sympathy to the members of the bereaved Kashmiri families, said a Foreign Office statement issued here.
Violence against innocent persons cannot be justified on any grounds, the statement said and added that attacks against mosques and people engaged in prayers is abominable.
Pro-freedom leaders and parties have strongly condemned the killing of a leading Kashmiri religious scholar and the President of Jamiat-e-Ahl-e-Hadith, Maulana Showkat Ahmad Shah who was martyred in a blast outside a mosque in Srinagar on Friday.
The Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference[G] Syed Ali Gilani in a media interview described the killing of Maulana Showkat as barbaric. “This is the worst form of terrorism and people behind such a heinous act cannot be described as humans,” he maintained.
The Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference[M], Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement termed Maulana’s killing as barbaric and unfortunate. “This is a direct attack on the Muslims of Kashmir and the killers should be exposed,” he said. He added that the motive of killings from Mirwaiz Moulvi Muhammad Farooq to Maulana Showkat Shah during past 21 years was to deprive Kashmiris of their leaders and intellectuals.
The JKLF Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik in his statement, while condemning the killing of Maulana Showkat Shah, said that the people of Kashmir would not remain silent to the killing of their leader.
APHC senior leader, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, while condemning the killing, said that it was an inhuman and cowardly act. APHC leader, Nayeem Ahmad Khan termed Maulana’s killing as an inhuman act. He appreciated Maulana’s role in the Kashmir liberation movement.
APHC leaders, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi, Maulana Abbas Ansari, Yasmeen Raja, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, Zaffar Akbar Butt, the Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami in the occupied territory, Sheikh Ghulam Hassan strongly termed the killing of Maulana Showkat as a heinous crime. JKLF-R leaders, Farooq Ahmad Dar and Javed Ahmad Mir, Jammu and Kashmir Mass Movement and Jammu Kashmir Mahaz-e-Aazadi in their statements denounced the killing.
The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Freedom League, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani also described the killing of Maulana Showkat Shah as an irreparable loss to the Kashmiri nation.
Convenors of APHC[G]-AJK Ghulam Muhammad Safi and APHC[M] Mehmood Ahmad Saghar also described the killing of Maulana Showkat Shah as barbaric and inhuman.
