“Pro Freedom leadership should Put Heads”
Islamabad, 19 Apr, 2011(KGN): Muhammad Farooq Rehmani Chairman Jammu and Kashmir People’s Freedom League has said that the success of negations on Jammu and Kashmir depends on a transparent popular mandate,a credible and satisfactory modus operandi, and restoration of human rights and civil liberties, an end to all types of custodial and non custodial killings in the suppressed and turbulent region of the State. Representing a nation on a crucial issue like freedom demands long sacrifices, steadfastness and political sagacity and patriotism of the highest moral ground.
He said that India was not sincere to resolve the issue. It on one hand was giving impression of holding talks with Pakistan to create a peaceful and prosperous region in Asia, but at the same time it was ruling over Kashmir by draconian laws, continuing arrests and killings of the inhabitants with impunity; suppressing the fundamental rights of the people and making the life of political workers and their relatives difficult. Furthermore, India was taming a nursery of rented agents and surrendered gangs backed by army, police and secret gangs in the unfortunate land of peace loving people.
Condemning India’s latest step of the issuance of Dogra Certificates in Jammu, he termed it very harmful for the unity of the state, aimed at making the state citizenship rules redundant. He said during the past several decades the certificate of state citizenship had been issued to many non state subjects illegally by the establishment and there was also a conspiracy in the offing to grant rights of citizenship to the refugees of erstwhile West Pakistan. Expressing grave concern over recently finalized census in the State, he said its figures had been manipulated to topsy-turvy the demographic character, by the presence of army, paratroopers and their secret agents in rural and far flung hilly areas for the last twenty years. All the hidden and eye catching factors have terribly told upon the latest census in the region. Again thousands of inhabitants who were forced to cross into AJK during 1990s had been excluded from the census of 2011, to show the Kashmiri Muslims were not numerically superior to Hindus.
He said that there were phenomena of political and economic gloom, and fog across Jammu and Kashmir; and the people had doubts with regard to a settlement of the dispute between the stake holders, particularly when India was not ready to recognize the status of the pro freedom leadership in the talks and firmly believed in stand- still solution with some trivial concessions
He said the state of affairs was very grim because of the mayhem and propaganda of vested interests and self-styled rulers and leaders. Under these circumstances, he said, “it becomes obligatory on the leadership of both the groups of APHC, to sit and put their heads together, demonstrate their will and wisdom and foil all conspiracies of the Indian regime to harm the identity of the Kashmiris swallowing up the cause and demographic and cultural character of the Kashmiris. Simultaneously, the UN should also according to its manifesto and Kashmir-related resolutions discourage India’s unilateral and tyrannical steps in Kashmir, lest the state may become more vulnerable and turbulent in the times ahead.
