Srinagar, Apr 28: Association of Parents of Disappeared Persons (APDP) on Thursday demanded an investigation into the disappearance of a Pandit youth, who went missing 4-weeks ago in south Kashmir’s Islamabad (Anantnag) district.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of its monthly sit-in at SK Park here, a spokesman of the APDP Ghulam Nabi Mir said the disappearance of Susheel Raina was an indicator of continued disappearances in the state. He said that Rania had left his home to collect the marks card, but failed to return.
“When it comes to high profile political murders like the one of Moulvi Showkat Ahmad Shah, Police swiftly comes out with a charge sheet against some persons without even providing a shred of evidence, but when there are cases like Susheel no one seems to be interested in investigating them,” he said.
Asking the government to shun its “apathetic attitude” towards the case, he said that they should help the family in tracing the youth. “Police claim that they are investigating case like hundreds of disappearance cases but these investigations never begin or never end . The perpetrators if indicted are not punished, “he said .
Scores of the families of missing persons carrying placards also participated in the sit in.
