Srinagar, September 30 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, protestors blocked traffic on Srinagar International Airport Road for nearly an hour following death of a woman due to cardiac arrest after a policeman entered her home to serve a warrant against her brother.
Jana Begum, 80, wife of late Sheikh Abdul Gaffar of Haft Chinar suffered cardiac arrest after a policeman barged into her home at Baran Pathar near Iqbal Park in Srinagar to serve a warrant against her brother, Ghulam Qadir Sheikh, issued by the District Magistrate for trespassing into the house of a Kashmiri Pandit, official sources said.
“Jana who lived on the third floor of her house saw the cop coming towards her,” the neighbours said. “When Jana was handed over the warrant she died due to heart attack,” they said.
The local residents took the body and staged a sit-in at the Lal Chowk-Airport Road, blocking the traffic for nearly an hour. The protestors dispersed following an assurance that the matter will be investigated.
Meanwhile, one person was killed and two others were injured in different road accidents in Dalgate, Sopore and Handwara areas.
