Srinagar May 29: The Chief organizer of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Freedom League (JKPFL), Muhammad Altaf Khan, while remembering the double rape and murder victims of 22-old Neelofer and her 17-year old sister-in-law, Aaisya Jan, who were raped and murdered four years back by Indian troops demanded death penalty of the perpetuators of the heinous crime.
Mohammad Altaf Khan in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the Indian government had pursued a policy of repression in Kashmir to crush the ongoing freedom struggle. Rape is used as a weapon to punish, intimidate, coerce, humiliate and degrade the entire community, he added.
He said that the Indian forces have deliberately targeted civilians, during search operations, tortured and summarily executed detainees in custody and murdered civilians in reprisal attacks.
He deplored that thousands of women have been raped till date. Be it the incidents in Kunanposhpora, Badra Payeen Handwara, Bandipora, Shopian or elsewhere Indian authorities have been shielding its forces.
