Srinagar, July 17: A detained Kashmiri fighter has been died in Srinagar, today.
The detained youth was killed after a police team escorting him to Baramulla jail from Panthachowk police station, Srinagar, came under a grenade attack near the Batamaloo bus stand in Srinagar, the police said.
The police claimed that the died youth Shakeel Ahmad Kasana was a resident of Akhal village of Kangan in Ganderbal and was member of Hizbul Mujahideen. He was arrested by the Indian police last year.
The police claimed that youth was killed during a grenade attack on the police vehicle carrying him to Baramulla jail. Four policemen and a pedestrian were also injured in the attack.
However, the locals believe that police shot the youth to death after the attack. They questioned why no policeman but Shakeel was killed in the attack.
Police cordoned off the area immediately after the grenade attack and started search operation.-KMS
