‘Demand arrest of guilty troopers’
Jammu, July 26: Hundreds of people in Gool, Ramban staged demonstrations against BSF on Friday and demanded arrest of border guards involved in killing of four civilians in the area on July 18.
After Friday prayers, hundreds of people assembled in Nagarkut and Dharam areas of Gool and staged demonstrations. Chanting anti-police, anti-BSF and pro-Islamic slogans, the protestors were demanding arrest of police and BSF men involved in killing of four civilians on July 18.
BSF and policemen had fired on unarmed protestors on July 18 when they were protesting against desecration of Holy Quran and beating of local Imam by border guards. Four protestors were killed and over 40 injured in the unprovoked and indiscriminate firing.
The protesters demanded that guilty police and BSF men should be awarded severe punishment so that such incidents don’t take place in future. The protestors rejected BSF claim that they fired in self defence.
“The protestors on July 18 were totally unarmed and protest was peaceful,” protestors said.
After staging peaceful demonstrations, the protestors dispersed off peacefully.
