“Infamous SOG personnel, CRPF man killed, 2 among passerby injured”
Srinagar: In disputed Kashmir A member of legislative council (MLC) had a narrow escape while as one of his personal security officer was killed and other got serious bullet injuries by unidentified gunmen at Awneera in South Kashmir’s Shopian district. A special operation group of police (SOG) was killed and a passerby got injured in another attack at Arwani area of Bijbehara, Anantnag in South Kashmir.According to GNS, a police official while talking to news agency said that suspected militants attacked the Member of legislative Council (MLC) Watchi Showkat Ganie’s escort at Awneera in Shopian district resulting in injuries to the two CRPF men.
Both the CRPF men were rushed to the nearby hospital where one of the troopers succumbed to his injuries.
Similarly, a police official said that militants around 12:45 pm Monday afternoon, after intercepting a infamous Special Operation Group (SOG) of police patrol at Arwani area of Bijbehara fired upon the party indiscriminately, resulting in injuries to a police constable and a passerby.
“Both the injured were immediately rushed to Sub-district hospital, Bijbehara for treatment,” the official said, adding, however the SOG personnel Salamtullah Khan Son of Barkatullah Khan (belt no. 454/AP-14 bn) succumbed to his injuries.
The official identified the injured civilian as Shiraz Ahmad Niakoo son of M Shaban of Shanpora Arwani.
“The assailants ran away with an AK-47 Rifle of the slain constable,” sources said.
Following the series of attacks, an alert was sounded across South Kashmir range and an operation has been launched to trace the militants, the sources added.
No militant outfit has, so far, claimed responsibility for the attacks. (GNS)
