Srinagar, September 05 : Panic grips the people of nearly half a dozen villages of Uri area in Baramulla district of Kashmir were unidentified masked men pelt stones on residential houses during night time.
According to reports the residents of Garkote, Nambla, Mothal, Hathlanga, Syedpora and Silikote said that unknown masked men appear in the villages during the night and pelt stones and rocks on the residential houses. This practice goes on unchecked for last two weeks causing fear among the people, mainly womenfolk and children.
The locals said they have brought the issue into the notice of the police, but nothing has been done so far.
Besides banging doors, the unknown men, a resident said, also resort to stone pelting.
The residents believe that the masked men may be the members of gangs backed by Indian army.-Kms
