Srinagar, Sept 08: National Conference patron, Farooq Abdullah on Sunday said that
Kashmiri people are unpredictable who never follow the same path. “These people are not reliable. They change their seats like clothes. They never stick to one principle and stand,” he blamed the entire nation of Kashmir in a function on his father. Various Kashmiri leaders condemned the remarks of Farooq Abdullah.
Faroooq Abdullah was addressing a gathering at SKICC where an Autobiography of NC founder Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah ‘The Blazing Chinar’ was released on Sunday. He said that the personality of Sheikh Abdullah was very complex and a common Kashmiri could not understand it. “There is diversion of opinions about the personality of Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah. It is my firm belief that people of Kashmir would never understand the ideology that was pursued by my father,” he said. “People of India wanted him to be their leader, but he chose Kashmir as he wished to serve people of Kashmir day in and day out. Shiekh was an epitome who showed the right path to the people of Kashmir. People of Kashmir were living miserably and it was Shiekh Abdullah who showed them light and helped them to lead a respectable life,” Abdullah said.
He said Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah once predicted that people in Kashmir would one day suffer heavily. “When Sheikh started his Movement, it were people of Kashmir who suffered heavily. Sheikh was aware about the shortcomings and his only motive was to provide Kashmir people a respectable status,” he said.
He said Kashmir was a paradise but the Freedom Struggle started here by some disgruntled persons brought misery to the people of Kashmir. “My father had once aptly remarked that one day this nation would suffer and today I think he was correct,” he said.
On this statement various Kashmiri leaders condemned the Farooq Abdullah’s remarks on Kashmiri people and said that it was Abdullah who betrayed the Kashmiri nation for his personnel interests and joined hands with Indra Gandhi and India.
