‘Gilani calls for two-day shutdown against killings’
Srinagar, September 13: The veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, while maintaining that the recent civilian killings have left the Kashmiris with no option but to prepare themselves for a decisive struggle against Indian occupation, has called for complete protest strike in the territory on Saturday and Sunday.
According to KMS, Ali Gilani in a statement in Srinagar said, “Whether it is the Shopian killings or the mysterious death of pro-freedom leader Abdul Rashid Ghazi in Baramulla, these incidents are offshoots of the Indian occupation. Kashmiris must prepare themselves mentally for a decisive struggle to end this occupation.”The veteran leader said that the two-day shutdown would be Kashmiris’ message to the world community that their struggle would continue until the last Indian trooper left Jammu and Kashmir. He urged the people to sever all ties with the pro-India parties, which acted as a bridge to strengthen the Indian occupation. “Until this bridge is broken our youth will continue to be showered with bullets and our grooms will be smeared with blood instead of henna,” he stated.
Syed Ali Gilani said that the Kashmiris’ freedom struggle had entered in the do-or-die phase. “How long shall we shoulder the coffins of our young? How long shall we maintain silence over the reign of terror and oppression unleashed upon us by the Indian occupation? The Indian troops believe that slaughtering Kashmiris is in their national interest. It is high time for the people of Kashmir to rise to the occasion to see end of forcible occupation,” he added.
