Srinagar, Sep 23: In Indian-administrated Kashmir, Indian troops, kill a youth in Kupwara district, today. Protests strike observed in Shopian and Baramulla.
The troops killed the youth during a military operation in Machil area of the district. The operation was going on till last reports came in.
Meanwhile, complete shutdown was observed in Shopian town on second day, today, against the killing of five persons by the personnel of Indian Central Reserve Police Force in unprovoked firing earlier this month.
The locals including civil society members and traders talking to media men said that they would continue to observe shutdown and hold protests till the CRPF personnel involved in the killing of innocent civilians were identified and punished. They also demanded complete removal of CRPF camp from Gagran area.
President of Traders Federation Shopian, Ghulam Nabi Turray, said that in a meeting in which hundreds of people participated, it was decided that the shutdown would continue in the town until all the demands of the people of Shopian were met.
Shutdown was also observed in Baramulla town against the arrest of youth by Indian police during house raids.
