Srinagar, Oct 04: In Indian-admin Kashmir, Indian police arrested several leaders and activists of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Freedom League (JKPFL) including Chief Organizer, Muhammad Altaf Khan, and General Secretary, Ghulam Ahmad Parray, in Srinagar, today.Heavy contingent of the police raided the JKPFL office at Rajbagh in Srinagar, took Muhammad Altaf Khan into custody and shifted him to some unknown destination.
On the other hand, the police arrested eight activists of the JKPFL after resorting to brute force on a sit-in protest at Press Colony in Srinagar against continued gross human rights violations and atrocities committed by Indian troops and police in occupied territory. Those arrested included party General Secretary, Ghulam Ahmad Parray, and Imtiyaz Ahmad Shah.
Meanwhile, the JKPFL Chairman, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani in a statement issued in Islamabad strongly condemning the police action demanded immediate release of the party leaders. He said that the wave of arrests was on in the Valley and the police wanted to implicate the arrested activists in different fake cases.
