Srinagar, October 19 : Protests were held in Banihal(IAK) against desecration of holy Quran by an India-based fire crackers factory.
Angered by the desecration of holy Quran, hundreds of people gathered at Banihal and blocked Jammu-Srinagar highway for hours. They said that several Quran pages were recovered from the remains of crackers, exploded by the people during Eid-ul-Azha at village Ashar, 5 kiolmetres from Banihal.
These objectionable crackers were manufactured by Fire Crackers factory Assam Traders.
The locals of Lambad, Ashar, Jamihal and Kaskoot took out protest march and reached Banihal town. The traders of Banihal observed complete strike and joined the protestors in the town.
They blocked ever busy Jammu-Srinagar highway for three hours and raised slogans against the owners of Assam Traders (fire crackers factory).
Huge traffic jam was witnessed on both the sides of highway and the protestors not allowed any vehicle to ply on the highway for three hours.
They demanded stern action against the factory owners.
