Islamabad, Nov 07: The Chairman Jammu and Kashmir People’s Freedom League (JKPFL) Muhammad Farooq Rehmani has warmly hailed the speech of Pakistan’s UN Ambassador Masood Khan’s speech on Kashmir before the third committee of General Assembly on social, cultural and humanitarian questions, urging all the member states to take cognizance of the repressive laws and measures of India in Jammu and Kashmir that have been flagrantly violating UN charter and the Security Council resolutions regarding the basic rights of the Kashmiris.
He said Ambassador Masood Khan has rightly drawn attention of the third committee to the UNCIP resolution 1948 and 1949, who remain unimplemented for the last six decades making life of the Kashmiris miserable across the occupied region and exposing the Muslim majority area of over 84 thousand sq. miles to demographic threats through killings and manipulated census figures of past many decades.
He feared that if Masood Khan’s points are not seriously debated upon and India’s harping on Kashmir as her integral part’ was taken lightly as before, the situation of Kashmir in future could worsen as Kashmir was up against Indian illegal and forcible occupation of Kashmir without any iota of doubt.
Muhammad Farooq Rehmani said that upheaval in Kashmir was undoubtedly for freedom and the right of self-determination and couldn’t be brushed aside by false bogy of terrorism. The people of Kashmir should be given their birth right to shape their political destiny according to the UN SC resolutions and wishes of the inhabitants of this state must be respected.
