Srinagar, Nov 25: The banned Kashmir University Students Union (KUSU) Monday asked filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj to tender an unconditional apology for his ‘criminal’ role in Sunday’s police action against the students.
KUSU in a press statement said that he considers the Indian film industry’s repeated adventures in Kashmir as nothing but another facet of Indian occupation. The dazzle of Indian film Industry will never conceal India’s war crimes in Kashmir nor whitewash them. Yesterday, India in connivance (for the umpteenth time) with the puppet university administration again presented Kashmir University on a platter for the Indians to feast upon. And who then had the audacity to hoist the Indian national flag on campus. Students of Kashmir University will never allow and always resist such brazen violations of our dignity and honour.
KUSU wants to make it clear that Vishal Bhardwaj has been accomplice with Kashmir Police and KU administration in yesterday’s Police action against students of Kashmir University as well as arrest of two.And then Vishal Bhardwaj has been blatantly lying to the media and people that he has secured the release of the students. He and his crew members were mute spectators while the Police was unleashing terror on the students. KUSU in no way values the sympathies of the film crew. The arrested students were released only after the protests of our brave heart students protested, who didn’t go back to their hostels till they made the authorities of the university to get the students released.
The script of Vishal Bhardwaj’s movie is irrelevant for Kashmiris. We expect only oppression from our occupiers (in whatever form they maybe), nothing else. We are at war with India and all its institutions. Period. Vishal Bhardwaj should understand this and take his crew back to India and fly his nation’s colours there. The students of Kashmir University ask Vishal Bhardwaj to tender an unconditional apology in all the leading newspapers to the people of Kashmir in general and students in particular for his criminal role in yesterday’s Police action against the students. Failing which he will be declared as persona non grata from the students, civil society and people of Kashmir.
KUSU also condemns the university administration and the VC Prof Talat Ahmad who has spoiled the academic atmosphere in varsity through his pro-occupational theatrics and more loyal than the king attitude. The varsity administration, especially proctor office has excelled at implementing diktats of Indian state and oppressing students. Instead of working for betterment of students varsity administration is acting a mere proxy of the Indian state in carrying out oppression
