Srinagar, Jan 21: Protests erupted in Naibugh area of south Kashmir’s Tral after three persons were arrested by Army during searches and crackdown.
Police sources said the arrested persons have been identified as Manzoor Ahmad Yatoo, Muhamad Ashraf Yatoo and Noor Muhamad Bhat.
The villagers also alleged that the Army thrashed several people and were harassing them for no reason.
An Army official, however, denied the allegations of highhandedness.
Indian Army and Kashmir police’s Special Operation Group carried out search operations in many villages of Tral after the killing of aJaish militant on Monday.
Barricades were erected on many roads leading in and out of Tral town and random frisking of vehicles, passengers and pedestrians was carried out.
Locals alleged that the search operations have become a routine and they are reminiscent of the early nineties crackdown.
