Islamabad, January 26: The Azad Jammu and Kashmir chapter of the forum led by the veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, held a seminar in Islamabad on Sunday to mark the Indian Republic Day as Black Day. KMS reported
Former prime minister of AJK, Raja Farooq Haider Khan, chaired the seminar, while senior AJK Minister, Chaudhry Muhammad Yaseen, was the chief guest. The Hurriyet leaders and the political leaders of AJK addressed the seminar.
A joint declaration adopted in the seminar rejected the occupation of Kashmir by India and the draconian laws impose
d by New Delhi in the territory. The declaration said that Jammu and Kashmir was an international dispute, which could be resolved by giving the Kashmiris their right to self-determination.
It said that India had violated the UN resolutions and international law by applying its Constitution on January 26, 1950, to Jammu and Kashmir, giving a constitutional cover to its 1947 aggression and invasion of the territory. It added that the people of Kashmir had rendered unprecedented sacrifices securing their inalienable right and they would continue their struggle till complete success.
The declaration said that the rigid and unrealistic approach of India towards the Kashmir dispute was main impediment in the way of its peaceful settlement and it was the responsibly of the UN to take notice of it. It said that India and Pakistan should give priority to the settlement of Kashmir dispute and include the real and genuine leadership of the Kashmiri people in the dialogue process.
The papers of the Executive Director of Kashmiri American Council, Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai, was also read in the seminar.
The seminar was attended among others by Sardar Khalid Ibrahim of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Party, Sardar Abdur Raziq of Jamu and Kashmir Musllim Conference, Noorul Bari of Jamaat-e-Islami AJK, Javed Turabi of Kashmir Forum, and Hurriyet leaders, Ghulam Muhammad Safi, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Maulana Ghulam Nabi Nowsheri, Mehmood Ahmad Saghar, Abdul Majeed Mir, Ishtiaq Hameed, Advocate Pervez Ahmad Shah, Haji Muhammad Sultan, Adeel Mushtaq Wani, Syed Abdullah Gilani and, Muhammad Rafique Dar of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front.
