Islamabad, January 30: The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir People’s Freedom League (JKPFL), Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, while denouncing Indian court judgment in the Pathribal fake encounter case, said that court decision to absolve the involved army personnel of murder and close the file, had shocked people across the occupied territory.
Muhammad Farooq Rehmani in a statement issued in Islamabad called for UN intervention and investigation into the matter and other similar tragic cases of murder, rape and enforced disappearances by army, paratroopers or police because Indian courts failed to remain fair and impartial in passing the judgments. He said that Indian troopers or police personnel were involved in many orchestrated and fake encounters in the territory and were putting all blame on the Kashmiri youths. He said had UN remained alive all along in the matter of Kashmir as per its mandate and had it censured India for brutalizing the Kashmiris, Kashmiri youths would have been saved. He said that India army had been killing the innocent people of Kashmir for many years, and yet absolving killers through courts of their crimes, thus encouraging more heinous act in contravention of the humanitarian and United Nations laws.
Rehmani said whether they were the helpless women of KunanPoshpora, or it was shedding blood of hundreds of civilians in Handwara, Sopore, Bijbhara, Kupwara in 199os, or the question of enforced disappearances of youths, unknown graves, or youth killings in 2008, 2009, and 2010, or hanging of Afzal Goro in 2013 on flimsy grounds, Indian establishment and judiciary had not stood the test of the Declaration of Human Rights and was repeating its methods of persecution and prosecution against the Kashmiris. Their courts were rubbing salt on the wounds of people, he added. Referring to the trade and travel CBMs between Pakistan and India without linking them to any solid progress on the conflict resolution of Kashmir, he said that such exercises were futile without Kashmir and Kashmiris. He urged on the advocates of trade and travel CBMs to weigh the results and intentions and link them to the progress on Kashmir dispute The Line of Control (LoC) had a history and it shouldn’t be delinked from and Kashmiris shouldn’t be used as tools for Indian designs. He urged Pakistan to make efforts to correlate its foreign policy with the freedom of Kashmir and never beg before India for trivial concessions. Only diplomacy based upon intrinsic power, and confidence of people brought peace and success.
Rehmani warned that should the UN continued its cold-storage policy on Kashmir and ignored the plight of the Kashmiris, lessened importance of the kashmiri’s rights; no power would be able to prevent our peace loving people from rearming to gain the rights and revenge blood of innocent youth. The unfortunate developments could plunge the region in any catastrophe.
