Jammu: In Indian-side Kashmir, a shocking disclosure about the rampant use of draconian Public Safety Act (PSA) in the territory, the puppet authorities have disclosed that 16,329 cases of PSA have been slapped on people since 1988.
This is for the first time that the authorities have come up with statistics on the application of the law, termed as a ‘lawless law’ by rights groups including Amnesty International.
“It is to inform that 16,329 PSAs have been slapped so far since 1988,” the Home department has disclosed under RTI, reported English daily, Greater Kashmir.
Out of the total, almost 95 percent cases of PSA have been slapped on people from Kashmir. Earlier, in 2012, the Home department had disclosed that 4000 PSA cases were slapped between 2002 and 2012. (KMS)
