Srinagar, July 21: Civil curfew announced by the Muslim community remained in place in Rajouri district, today, against the sacrilegious act by activists of Vishva Hindu Parishad in the district.
During this civil curfew, shops of Muslims community remained closed and traffic was suspended throughout the district.
The Muslims of the area were asked to stay indoors and avoid any activity outside in protest against the burning of the flag bearing Kalima-e-Tayyiba.
Earlier, on Monday Muslims of Rajouri held a protest demonstration against the act by activists of Vishva Hindu Parishad.
The protesters under the banner of Muslim Welfare Association Rajouri and Tehreek-e-Ghulaman-e-Mustafa took out a huge procession shouting slogans against the authorities for not arresting the culprits.
The protesters said that some elements affiliated with RSS and its sister organizations were trying to disturb the peaceful atmosphere of the district by targeting Muslims and hurting their sentiments.
They maintained that the district administration was furthering the agenda of RSS and its sister organizations.
