Srinagar: Hurriyet G Chief, Syed Ali Gilani, has reiterated its demand for immediate dissolution of Indian Army-backed so-called Village Defense Committees in the territory.
The APHC spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said that these committees were established to suppress the Muslims of Jammu region by killing or forcing them to abandon their houses in the same manner as was done in 1947. He said that the VDCs were a terrorist militia and its members were involved in serious crimes like killing and abduction of people and rape of women in the territory. The forum reiterated its demand for immediate dissolution of these committees.
The spokesman strongly castigated the BJP leader and the puppet deputy Chief Minister of the territory, Nirmal Singh, for equating the VDCs with political organizations. He appealed to the world human rights organizations to play their role in the disbanding of India-backed so-called Village Defense Committees in the territory.
The Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Freedom League in a meeting chaired by its General Secretary, Muhammad Ramzan Khan, in Badgam also called for disbanding of the Village Defence Committees. It also expressed serious concern over the gross human rights violations perpetrated by Indian forces in the territory.
