Srinagar, February 24:legal experts have rued the delay by Indian police in submitting before the court the formal documents of the detainees who have been booked under draconian law, Public Safety Act (PSA).
They said that scores of people have been booked by Indian police under the PSA across the occupied teritory and there were some cases where police had slapped PSA second time in advance before the quashing of the previous one.
Advocate Bashir Ahmed Tak in a media interview in Srinagar said that the PSA detainees had been facing unnecessary harassment at the hands of police while documents related to cases were not presented in the court in time deliberately. “This is the murder of justice. It is the obligation of the Law Department to take cognizance of such trend,” he said, adding that it had become a routine for police to slap PSA after PSA on detainees.
He deplored that Bilal Ahmed, son of Muhammad Yousuf, a resident of Hafshermal area of Shopian, has been booked under the PSA and when his PSA was challenged in the court, police slapped another PSA on him before quashing of the previous one.
Advocate Bashir Ahmed Tak said that same was the case with other people like Tehreek-e-Hurriyet leader Mir Hafeezullah, Merajuddin Ganai, Tariq Ahmed Butt, Danish Ahmed Dar and Amir Hamza. “Mir Hafizullah has been facing 10th PSA, while Amir Hamza has been booked under PSA for seventh time,” he added.
